oRo Co. A pet logo for a no pet business
Japanese IT corporation that sells cloud and marketing solutions.
The logo attracted attention by ingeniously turning the 'R' into a nose and mouth (or whiskers), coupled with a rare emotion of astonishment for corporate design (easily achieved by the absence of pupils and a degenerate mouth).
The character and emotion are instantly recognizable, yet identifying who it is proves difficult — a dog without ears, a bun with a face...
The wordmark follows the theme of circles introduced by the logo. It isn't afraid to play with registers and font size, which, combined with short words and punctuation, creates a memorable rhythm and character.
It's surprising that mascots are so familiar to the Japanese that such a logo can represent a corporation with a capitalization of over $8.5 million. This once again underscores the importance of context.
