Siculo. Unexpected counterforms remarkably fitting the name

The gelato shop in the Italian city of Turin. For three days, I thought that the charm would fade away soon, and I wouldn't share it, but it doesn't fade.
Despite the clarity of the structures, two things are unclear:
- How did the idea of using inverted counterforms come to mind?
- Why did this idea fit the name so well (perhaps the name was adjusted to fit)?
